A January Catch Up! from The Modern Diary

Awhile back I finished the Matchmaker Modern Quilt Mystery.  I am happy with how it came out despite not picking fabrics ahead of time and using only scraps.
For Christmas I made Indie a second pillowcase for her little pillow.  This one matches the one we use at my house.
I also made this Rudolph panel into a book.  It was very difficult to get in the right order and despite my best efforts it is not in the right order!  I think this went to Miles since Indie is kind of big for cloth books now.

For Christmas Becky ...

A Crafty Week from The Cozy Quilter

We are in the "between the holidays" period right now...I love this time of year...quiet after the busy-ness of Christmas and before a new round of activities start up in January.  I have been spending my time reading and crafting and watching movies with my husband and daughter.

I have one more gift of Christmas to share with you...  I made this vinyl fronted zipper pouch for my daughter for her crafting projects.  As you already know, she is an avid crocheter and embroiderer/cross stitcher so this pouch will be put to good use.  I picked some ...

Two Gifted Pillows and some Cross Stitch from The Cozy Quilter

Some gifts have been given and opened already so I can show them to you.  This first pillow is for a friend who just retired.  I made her a wall hanging a few years ago out of these Christmas FQ's that I have in my stash and decided to maker her a co-ordinating pillow this year. The backing fabric was not quite wide enough so a strip of brown was added.   Also, you will notice that the trees are green on one side and brown on the other.  It all co-ordinates!  There is a zipper under the flap on ...

A Couple of Finishes! from The Cozy Quilter

I worked on several different projects this week and two were brought to the finish line.  I quilted and bound the winter wall hanging that I showed last week.  This will be donated to a silent auction fundraiser.  It is walking foot quilted with white thread in the white sections and blue thread in the coloured sections.

I added a hanging sleeve. You can see the quilting pattern better on the back.

Of course, I had leftover HST's so started another project with those.  It is not quite done and will likely be a Christmas gift for someone so ...

The Gifts of Christmas, 2025 Version from The Cozy Quilter

We have had a very laid back, relaxing Boxing Day.  The last few days were very busy and we all needed some time to chill.  My husband is giving Finn a belly rub and my daughter is making dinner so I thought I would do a blogpost!

A few years ago, my husband found an old quilt that originally came from his family farm.  It was very dirty and unfinished--the edges were not straight and it smelled funky. There were very rusty pins holding the edges together--I think the maker intended to finish it but never got around to it ...

Last Post of 2023 from The Cozy Quilter

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and some time to relax this past week once the festivities were over.  I have managed to do a bit of knitting this week as well as some un-sewing (more on that later in this post!).  During the month of December, I worked on knitting a new hat for my husband whenever he was out or otherwise occupied.  Despite my best efforts, I did not get it done in time and he ended up unwrapping an unfinished gift.  He was surprised and pleased with my gift to him, which makes it all worthwhile ...

Progress on Indigo Way Mystery Quilt from The Modern Diary

I made a cute little bag for Coleman's family for Christmas.  I put a large travelling checker game in there for them to take camping.
Here is my oops from En Provence (I think) that could possibly wind up in a second colorway of Indigo Way.  Since I made the first clue in the wrong color and already have this one, I am practically halfway there.  Doubt it will happen, but you never know.
Here is clue three of Indigo Way complete.  I have one extra set I think.

Guild Retreat Report from The Cozy Quilter

This past weekend, my friend Christine and I went to the semi-annual Oxford Guild Quilt Retreat in Stratford.  We both were very productive at the retreat--sewing morning, noon and night with breaks for meals and sleeping only! This is why there was no blogpost here this past weekend.   I brought lots of projects with me--heaven forbid I run out of things to sew!

I made a couple of Christmas gifts, one of which I can show here now.  This little wall hanging is for my MIL for her room in the nursing home where she lives.  She loves Christmas and ...

2022 - A Very Quilty Year from Sew........This Is My Blog

2022 has been a very quilty year!   I met almost all my goals, .....

..... finished nearly everything on my "Sew What" ("to do") list, .....

..... had seventeen finishes for the year, and completed my 400th quilt.

I even made two Christmas gifts, which I haven't done in many, many (many!) years.  (That may be the most impressive thing of all!)

Tomorrow I'll set new goals and update my UFO list.  Happy New Year, everyone.  May all your quilty dreams come true!

Slow Stitching from The Cozy Quilter

I have been furiously sewing this week to finish off some Christmas gifts in time for the big day.  Just a little bit more to do! My cousin and her husband came for lunch on Friday.  We do not get to see each other very often but often talk on the phone about our mutual genealogy project--shaking the family tree on our mothers' side of the family to see what we can find out.  The majority of our family members are Scottish with some Irish as well.  I made my cousin a wide open zippered pouch with some fabric I ...

Poinsettia Stitchery Kits from Sew Karen-ly Created...

(Mine are all done on the sewing machine).

A simple poinsettia shape is outline stitched in 12 weight Aurifil thread. You trace the design onto your fabric and layer with batting and backing as you would a quilt.

Set your regular sewing machine up as for free motion ...
